Our new baby chicks! Eli and John picked these out last weekend. The yellow one is Kabob and the brown one is Tetrazini. They are one week old today.
We decided to get more chickens because our eggs are in demand, plus we like providing them for our friends and neighbors. Also, we lost one of our other baby chickens a few weeks ago when Boone accidentally caught one. It flew up and he snapped her neck. It really was an accident!
Both boys actually cooperated today and quickly fell asleep for naps at the same time! I hope there are many more nap times like this to come! Aren't they so sweet sleeping together? Ahh, now what to do with this free time?
We had a fun family outing at the Pumpkin Patch yesterday. Eli was actually more interested in the front loader and fork lifts they had there than anything else. It was still fun to do the hay maze and pick out a pumpkin after playing on them. He didn't like the scary decorations they had inside, which I never do either. Jed joined in the fun, too!
Jed got his first pair of Converse shoes, which are really socks, and they are the cutest little things! Thanks Erik and Tiffany! Eli wanted in the pictures, too. He looks so big! Speaking of big...Jed is already 3 weeks old and seems like he's changing and growing daily. Time is already flying!
We went on our first family outing today! An exciting trip to the grocery store! We're taking it slow. Jed did great. He actually slept through the whole thing except maybe the last two minutes before we got home. Eli loved having him ride in the back next to him.
Jed grunts a lot when he's sleeping, waking up, or nursing, which is pretty much all he does right now. I guess I'd rather have grunting than crying. Here's noisy Jed sleeping in the sling:
Yesterday I caught Eli reading his favorite truck book to Jed and naming and explaining all the different trucks to him. So cute!
